Thanks to Daniel Kent and other area teenagers, thousands of senior citizens are smiling as they open digital photos of their new grandchild and receive e-mail from their families. Likewise, thousands of underserved families are reaping the benefits of newly created computer labs in their communities.
Net Literacy, a volunteer agency comprised almost entirely of teenagers, has been helping to bridge the digital divide for seniors and the underprivileged in the Indianapolis area for about three years. Kent, 18 and the organization's founder, can be found most Saturdays either refurbishing computers at Sanders Glen Retirement Community in Westfield or teaching computer skills to seniors at Summer Trace Retirement Center in Carmel
