Upset by Fishers’ plans to annex her home and ultimately raise her taxes, Rachel Quade has been pounding the keys on her computer a lot lately.
“I got on the Internet one night and started saying, ‘OK, let’s look at all the annexations going on in Indiana,’ and started digging a little,” Quade said.
She quickly found others in similar predicaments. Thousands of residents and business owners across the state -- including those near Carmel, Whitestown and Jeffersonville -- are fighting annexations. So Quade, a board member of Geist United Opposition, which was created to fight the annexation of some of the area’s swankiest neighborhoods, is leading a charge to take their fight to the Indiana Statehouse.
